Alberto Marco’s sculptures convey the sensitivity and love for the sea of a poet who works with his hands to offer us odes to the sea in the form of sculptures, while provoking us to reflect on the relationship between man and the marine environment.
The result is unique pieces of great beauty with all the strength and character of the sea.

  • Alberto Marco: “Since I was a child I have had a passion for the tides, I love wandering through them and collecting all kinds of materials that I find stranded in the sand and among the rocks. Many are pieces that were sailing and that call my attention to create a boat that allows them to return to “navigate” through tables, shelves and walls at the whim of our imagination. In some way it is about returning to the sea what brought us adrift. Sadly over the years I find more and more plastics and garbage of all kinds that remains of wood, rigging, ropes…”

About the Author

Alberto Marco was born in Madrid in the summer of 1965. Influenced by his father’s love of painting, he learned to draw and paint as a child.

As long as he can remember, whenever there was an opportunity they spent time by the sea, where he fell in love with “the tides” and collected objects returned to the beach by the waves.

He studied Industrial Engineering, a field where he develops his profession.

Due to his work, for several years he lives and works in the Canary Islands, where he lives with fishermen and increases his passion for the sea and boats.

At the end of the eighties he entered the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid where he discovered the universe of sculpture, from which he has no longer been able to detach himself.

He began making mobile works with “marine” objects collected over the years, giving free rein to his enthusiasm for movement and balance.

Basically reusing wood collected on the coast combined with various materials and pieces found at low tide, inspired by marine fauna, he creates sculptures of imaginary fish, whales and sharks, giving them color and “life”.

Currently he focuses his creativity on boat sculptures also using drift materials. Sailboats, fishing boats, tugboats and freighters are part of his artistic “fleet”.
